Immigration Health Surcharge: Increase in January 2024

Friday 27th October 2023

As the cost of living in the UK continues to rise, planning your immigration expenses becomes increasingly vital.

You might already be aware of recent increases in visa fees, and now, we want to inform you about an upcoming change regarding the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS), set to take effect from whichever is the later between 16 January 2024 and 21 days after both Houses of Parliament have approved it.

The standard rate for IHS for workers and family members staying for six months or more will rise from £624 to £1,035 per year.

Students, children, and youth mobility visa holders will see their IHS rate increase from £470 to £776 per year.

If you, your family, or your employees are due to switch visas or apply for new ones in the next few months, we strongly advise you to consider the following:

Take advantage of current rates and apply before the IHS fee increases.

Historically, the IHS has been one of the most expensive application components, particularly for families and main applicants with dependants.

Whether you are a business looking to sponsor new employee visas or an individual seeking guidance on your immigration options, our friendly immigration team is here to support you.

Don't let these updates catch you off guard. Contact us to schedule an appointment and discuss how these increases might affect you.
