Charges

Our Charges

We are committed to providing high quality and competitive services to all of our clients. As part of this commitment we are publishing the charges for our services that can be accessed here. As every case is unique in its nature and every matter requires an individual approach, the charges may vary depending on the complexity of the case and specific requirements. The overall charge for the case and all disbursements are always confirmed during the initial meeting with the solicitor.

VALUE ADDED TAX

LS Legal Solicitors is a VAT-registered firm. However, the application of VAT to immigration matters depends on your residence status and the type of immigration permission you hold. We will confirm whether VAT (at a rate of 20%) is applicable once you formally instruct us and provide case details during your initial 45-minute consultation with a member of our legal team. At that stage, we will determine whether VAT should properly be charged.

If, after your initial consultation, you decide to proceed with our services, we will provide you with the Client Care Letter, Terms of Business and the Payment request asking to cover the agreed legal costs. Under UK VAT regulations, individuals who are deemed to "belong" to the UK, whether as British citizens or by holding long-term lawful residence, are generally subject to VAT. If you do not fall within this category, VAT will not be applied to our fees or any associated government charges. Our terms of business, which you will receive and be asked to sign at the outset of your case, outline the hourly fee rates for our professional staff. However, when providing quotes, we typically offer a range of fixed fees to cover all work associated with your application.

DISBURSEMENTS AND OTHER EXPENSES

Please note that our fees do not include UK Visa Fees, or any other fees such as Court and Tribunal Fees, Barrister Fees, Expert Fees, Interpreter Fees, Medical Expert Fees or any other expenses that may be incurred. These fees are payable to third parties.

However, information on these additional costs will be sent to you by your legal representative or a caseworker once you have confirmed your instructions. Please note that in some cases, you may be required to pay VAT (at a rate of 20%) on the above-mentioned expert fees, such as medical or interpreter/translator fees.

TIMESCALES FOR APPLICATIONS TO BE CONSIDERED

Unfortunately, we are unable to give you an exact timescale as to when your application will be considered. This is dependent on the Home Office and Court processing times and dependent on the instructions that you provide to us.

Whilst there are standard timescales for some applications, delays can occur for a number of reasons which include:

• The Home Office and/or Court experiencing increasing visa demand
• the information in your application is not accurate or requires further consideration
• you need to provide further evidence, for example evidence of funds
• your supporting documents need to be verified
• you need to attend an interview
• further information is required on your personal circumstances

Each case is dependent on its own facts and circumstances. We will be able to provide an estimate on timescales following the initial consultation and as your case progresses. We will keep you updated during all stages.
