Digital Revolution in Immigration: The UK Switches to eVisas
Wednesday 8th November 2023
The Home Office is switching to a new way of handling immigration and moving from paper documents to an eVisa. Here's what's happening:
🔹 The Home Office is shifting from physical documents like Biometric Residence Permits (BRP), Biometric Residence Cards (BRC), and passport stamps to a digital system.
🔹 An eVisa is an online record of your immigration status. To use it, you will need to create a UKVI account. The account lets you share your immigration status securely with others, like employers and landlords.
🔹 Soon, you will only need your eVisa and your passport for travel.
🔹 You do not have to take any action now, if you currently have permission to stay in the UK and have either a BRP, a BRC or other physical documents to prove your immigration status. The Home Office will provide additional guidance through the process in 2024.
🔹 For new applications, our caseworkers will help you set up a UKVI account.
