Action Required: New eVisa System for BRP Holders in the UK
Wednesday 27th March 2024
- My BRP expires on 31 Dec 2024. Does this affect my immigration status?
✅ No, your immigration status remains unchanged. However, the way you prove your status will change in 2025.
- What's changing?
🌐 The UK is moving to a digital immigration system. eVisas will replace physical documents like BRPs.
- What action do I need to take?
❗ If you are not a British or Irish citizen, create a UKVI account before 31 Dec 2024 to access your eVisa. You will need your date of birth, BRP number (or passport if no BRP), email, phone number and smartphone.
- I already have a British passport or certificate of entitlement. What should I do?
You do not currently need to take any action. More information may be available for those with certificates of entitlement in the future.
- Travelling in 2024? ➡️ Keep carrying your BRP until it expires.
