Planning School Holidays? Important Immigration Considerations for Parents of UK Schoolchildren

Our Managing Partner, Liliya Scott, explains:

"From an immigration standpoint, I would advise against taking your child out of the UK for every break or holiday they have.

You will one day consider applying for your child's permanent residency, and your child's absence from the UK will be taken into account.

These are allowed in minimal quantities, depending on the category. Looking at one of the immigration paths, one path provides for no more than 54 days of absence from the UK per year.

This is significantly less than the number of school holidays available."

✅ We strongly recommend considering your children's immigration path in advance, even before entering the UK. Our solicitor will work with you to develop a specific strategy for obtaining permanent residency and citizenship, providing you with the guidance and support you need.
