Seasonal Worker Route To Continue Until 2029 with Reduced Quotas
Monday 10th June 2024
🔔 The UK government announced a five-year extension of the Seasonal Worker visa route until 2029 to help businesses plan effectively, invest in automation, and reduce reliance on migrant labour.
🚜 In 2025, 43,000 visas will be allocated to the horticulture sector and 2,000 to the poultry sector, with future visa numbers for 2026 to 2029 to be detailed later this year.
🌱 This extension reduces the total visas by 2,000 and removes an additional 10,000 visas that could have been issued if sector demand required.
✔️ The government also aims to make the sector more attractive to domestic workers through regional recruitment strategies and collaboration with industry and education providers.
