Olga shares: "In autumn 2015, I embarked on a journey towards one of my most significant professional goals – obtaining the CILEX qualification. The process was divided into two main stages: 10 general exams followed by 6 more specialised ones. Over the years, I sat these exams in both traditional and online formats during the pandemic. Of course, there were challenges along the way – one exam was interrupted by technical issues, and I had to retake it.
When I finally passed my last exam, I was overwhelmed with emotion – it truly felt like a victory! Not only because I had completed my journey but also because only a few from my study group made it to the end.
The next step was obtaining Fellowship status – a higher level within the CILEX organisation. However, to become fully qualified, I also needed to gain the right to practise. This required submitting a portfolio, which proved to be a lengthy and complex process. I am immensely grateful to my colleagues, especially our Managing Partner, Liliya Scott, and Head of Immigration, Khurshid Ali, for their support.
I now have full rights to practise as an independent lawyer. This marks a new chapter in my life and career. The responsibility I hold towards my clients, my colleagues – with whom we work as a close-knit team – and the firm, whose reputation is of utmost importance to me, is an integral part of my role.
My journey with LS Legal Solicitors began in September 2013 as a Personal Assistant. Step by step, I progressed towards my goal of becoming a Lawyer. It has been a long path, and it continues to this day.
I am proud to be part of a legal community that not only processes applications but also keeps abreast of developments in this ever-evolving field. Immigration is a complex area that reflects the state of society and global affairs. For me, this is an opportunity to be a reliable guide for our clients as they navigate their path towards permanent immigration status in the UK."
